Self-taught, Paolo Mussat Sartor has been photographing since 1966. In 1968 he began to work with Gian Enzo Sperone and met and photographed the Italian and foreign artists who exhibited their works in his gallery in those years. He exhibits and publishes portraits of artists and the documentation of works in art catalogues and specialist magazines all over the world. He also collaborates with art and architecture magazines such as Domus, Abitare, Vogue, Casa Vogue, and Ottagono. In 1979, the Stampatori publishing house published Paolo Mussat Sartor Fotografo 1968/1978. Arte e Artisti in Italia, a book documenting ten years of collaboration with a number of contemporary Italian artists. At the same time, since 1970, he has devoted himself to his own research work, which has developed through the medium of photography. Since 1985 he has been working on photographic prints, made especially by himself, with coloured pigments and mixed techniques, producing unique pieces.
