Der Botanische Garten
DAS MINSK, Potsdam, Germany
Robin Rhode has unveiled The Botanical Garden, a new mural commissioned by the DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam, Germany.
For the mural, Robin Rhode drew inspiration from Goethe’s text The Metamorphosis of Plants (1750) and features motifs of Indigenous South African medicinal plants, such as Buchu, Hoodia, Silene capensis, and Canna. The plants serve as symbols of resilience, healing, and cultural exchange.
The mural also incorporates elements of the history of Potsdam, such as the use of Prussian Blue and references to fine porcelain and the iconic beech trees of Sanssouci Park.
Situated on the south façade of blu Sport und Freizeitbad, the mural is prominently visible from the terrace of DAS MINSK at the Brauhausberg and redefines the view of the Potsdam cityscape.
